IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Two Iowa City women have been arrested after their roommate called police claiming her heart was racing after she ate brownies made with marijuana.
The Gazette in Cedar Rapids says 19-year-old Tearra Thomas and 18-year-old Alexis Riley were arrested late Wednesday evening on charges of possession of marijuana.
Riley and Thomas both told officers that they had eaten the brownies and felt fine. Police say Thomas told officers she brought the brownies from Illinois to Iowa and knew they contained marijuana.
Both women were released from jail.
A message left for Thomas' attorney was not immediately returned. Online court records did not name an attorney for Riley and a telephone listing for her wasn't found.
