Woman walks for almost two days for help ‎

A 56-YEAR-OLD battler who survived two days stranded in the bush in scorching heat wants to discharge herself from hospital, so she can fix her car.

The woman was admitted to hospital this morning after she trekked more than 25km after her van broke down in bushland in Victoria’s northwest.

The woman, originally from South Australia, had embarked on a solo trip around Australia.

But she became stranded after her car broke down at Murray Sunset National Park in Victoria’s northwest.

Mildura Police acting sergeant Jason Bruhn said the woman was travelling through the national park on Monday when her Ford transit van broke down 5km south of Rocket Lake about 10am.

The woman spent about eight hours trying to repair her van before setting off on foot to find help, he said.

"She took four litres of water, and umbrella for shade, all the food she could carry and a sleeping bag in two backpacks and she was on her way," he said.
