Meet the world's largest gold coin worth £650,000

Perth Mint in Australia has produced the world's largest gold coin -- a monster measuring nearly 80cm wide and more than 12cm deep.

The giant coin -- which features Queen Elizabeth II on one side and a kangaroo on the other -- weighs one tonne.

Though it also has a nominal value of A$1million (£650,000) the current costs of gold would make it worth around £35m.

Ed Harbuz of Perth Mint said: "To cast and handcraft a coin of this size and weight was an incredible challenge."

Unfortunately for anyone hoping to make a fortune by buying the coin and melting it down, the practise is illegal.
