Deccan Chargers captain Kumar Sangakkara has been fined $20,000 for his team's slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Pune Warriors here.
Deccan Chargers, who recorded their first IPL victory Thursday by a margin of 18 runs, were assessed at the end of the game to be one over behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration.
The former Sri Lankan skipper, who scored 12 runs before being bowled by leg-spinner Rahul Sharma, was fined $20,000 as it was his first offence of the season under minimum over-rate offence.
